BILLS & PAYMENT OPTIONS

When to Pay
Your bill is due and payable upon receipt. The Navajo Tribal Utility Authority accepts cash, checks, money orders, debit cards, VISA, Mastercard, & American Express. If your payment is not received by the due date printed on the statement, your account is considered delinquent and subject to disconnection. If you are disconnected for non-payment, a reconnection fee of $25.00 will be charged for each utility service disconnected. A reconnection fee of $50.00 will be made for services reconnected after 5:00 PM or on weekends or holidays.
Where to Pay
You may pay your bill at any of our Business Offices or by mail. Day and night depository boxes are also available for your convenience. Payments received through the depository boxes will be processed on the following business day.
Returned Checks
If a check is returned to NTUA which is drawn on insufficient funds or on a closed account, or any other reason, you will be charged a returned check handling fee of $25.00 for each check returned and your account will be subject to disconnection.
Dispute and Correction Procedures
If your bill is disputed, you may contact the district office in your area. You have the right to have a conference regarding your bill. The Authority will promptly investigate any question as to accuracy of the meter or of bills rendered. Contact may be made between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, except holidays. You must request the conference, if desired, before the indicated due date. If you are not satisfied with the decision, you have the right to appeal.
Budget Payment Plan
The budget payment plan is designed to help you, as a residential customer, budget in advance for your utility bill. The budget payment plan eliminates the seasonal highs and lows of your monthly bill by allowing you to pay the same budget payment amount each month, despite fluctuations in your monthly usage.

The budget payment plan amount is determined by averaging your past 12 months utility bills. We will continue to read your meters each month and your actual consumption will appear on your bill. Your account will be reviewed occasionally to check that you are not excessively overpaying or underpaying. Your budget payment plan amount can change if your utility usage becomes more or less than the previous 12 months.

The budget payment plan is available to you at any time, as a residential customer provided that you have paid your account in full at the time a budget payment plan agreement is signed.

Life-Support Discount
This program is for customers who require utility services to be maintained due to a serious health condition. The discount is 10% of the regular charges for the utility services provided by NTUA. The qualification guideline is that the customer must be certified by his or her attending licensed physician as requiring continuous utility service due to a serious health condition, which could be life-threatening if utility service is disconnected.
Senior Citizen Discount
NTUA offers a 10% discount to our Senior Citizen customers. This program is for the elderly who are 60 years or older and have an annual household income of $21,000 or less.
