WATER SERVICE
The Navajo Tribal Utility Authority maintains water systems throughout the Navajo Nation. It meets and often is better than the United States Environmental Protection Agency standards. Water is pumped and distributed to the residents of the Navajo Nation. Water in some locations such as the Shiprock, NM area is purchased from the city of Farmington, NM and is then distributed. To establish new service, contact your District Office.

Due to the recent drought, NTUA has implemented a Drought Restriction Policy.
Requirements Description
Permission to Tap (PTT) Application
  • Customer/Contractor shall submit PTT application.
  • Proposed drawing attached with existing line size, name, station numbers and elevations.
Utility Right-of-Way Agreement
(NTUA form 5447)
  • Grants NTUA access to property to conduct surveys, construct, operate and maintain services as requested by you.
  • At this time homesite leases will be verified.

Service Application
(NTUA form 5412)
  • Name, location, description of dwelling, service requesting, rural address, as well as a map or sketch of the service location are all part of this application.
Customer Contribution
  • Payment arrangement is established and contracts signed.
Security Deposit Required
  • $25.00 per Utility
Fees Required
  • Establishment = $10.00 per Utility
  • Bacti = $47.00
  • Pressure Test = $75.00 (if required)
Tap Inspection Scheduled
  • __ Approved __ Disapproved - Tap re-inspection will be scheduled.

  • __ Pass __ Failed - re-sampling will be scheduled (@$47.00 per sample).

    Final Inspection
    • Customer/Contractor should be informed that as-built, cost of plant and utility transfer agreement needs to be completed and ready for on-site inspection.
    • __Pass __ Disapproved (Final re-inspection will be scheduled).
