FORT DEFIANCE, ARIZ. - Under clear blue skies, the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority welcomed more than 250 people to the Hospitality Tent set up for the January 9th, 2007 Navajo Nation Inauguration festivities in Window Rock, Ariz.
The tent was set up so that Senior Citizens and the disabled would be able to enjoy the celebration by watching the fairground activities via closed circuit television broadcast. The tent was heated and NTUA employees and Navajo Nation Social Service employees served warm refreshments.
After initial technical setbacks, the tent audience was able to witness the Oaths of Office for the Navajo Nation President, Navajo Nation Vice-President, and Navajo Nation Council Delegates.
When the festivities were over, Navajo elders who were leaving thanked employees for the hospitality service, saying "Ahee'he (thank-you). In warm surroundings, we watched and listened with cups of coffee and tea in our hands. Ahee'he." |
