New rates for Water and Wastewater becomes effective
July 01, 2016
For residential water customers, this means about 5.5 percent per year for 5 years, which translates to approximately $1.43 more per month (based on an average use of 4,200 gallons).
Residential wastewater services would see a 4 percent adjustment over a 5 year period, meaning that the new rates would increase by about $0.63 per month (based on an average of 4,800 gallons).
“This new rate structure will last five years,” said NTUA Deputy General Manager Rex Kontz. “We put together new rates with the least amount of impact.”
NTUA began reviewing its water and wastewater rates last year, taking into consideration increased expenses for equipment, materials, maintenance, including federal regulations that require upgrades. The proposal focused on the general cost of doing business, including operational and maintenance expenses, as well as capital costs such as water storage, maintenance of water lines, and water pumping costs to all structures. The new rates will not change water usage rates for Senior or Life Support Discount customers.
